Here we go!!! The website is live! This took so long. I think it’s been in the process of being made for the past 5 months. Since graduating, I was quite aware that I needed some sort of portfolio, and to go with my Instagram I thought it would be cool to have a website for Pardon My Brain. I had a vision for how I wanted it to look and that was the driving force behind me wanting to make it. It did go through multiple different designs but still had similar characteristics. I just narrowed down different features to create the perfect design.
It was not easy to make though. I’ve only ever made a website before on Wix for a project in my Media A-Levels. And while that was easy, it didn’t need to be published so all of the minor details were not really considered. I wanted videos to be the main feature of the website – so it’s an experience to be on the website. I had to make different videos for the respective sections. And Wix was playing up every now and then to the point where I had to contact customer services for help. Ultimately, the process of the website was tricky due to the different Wix features that weren’t working according to how I wanted. And with Wix, you have to pay attention to scaling details so that no matter what screen size you view the website from, the design stays consistent.
It was fun to make, however the process went on for so long that I wasn’t as enthused by the end of the website creation than I was when I initially started.
The website was a big thing for me, I felt like in was the one of the few out of my peers at uni that made a website and had enough content to make a website for, and knowing I was still trying to make independent projects post-graduation, a website seemed like a perfect platform to post my new stuff.
Because of how big of a deal the website was to me and the statement of having one to set me aside from my peers, I thought it would be cool to make a small promotional video to post on my Instagram as a teaser so that people would go and have a look at the website.

The video was quite an easy process, I had a vision of how I wanted it to look and I wanted it to specify the single room that I had been working in on the website for months. During the process of filming this, I realised that my camera that I had used previously was just not a good enough standard. And when initially filming this video, I made the decision to swap onto my phone, and use that as my main camera. I thought it was good to experiment with the quality and I think it actually turned out successful. I had a lot of good reception about the editing of the video which I think carried the video. But the quality of the footage (being from a phone) was not noticed.
Update from 06/10/2024:
I don’t like the old website and have decided to make a new one :)) welcome to version 2 I guess. New Blog post pending…
